First of all, this is much cheaper at Toys R Us.

This box comes with a table (surface is about a foot and a half off the ground), multiple trains, several accessories, and all the track you need. In other words, you will likely NOT have to purchase any additional items beyond what is included in the box.

The table was relatively easy to set up although the manufacturer did mess up one of the holes. Luckily, the remaining holes added redundant stability so it was not that big of a deal. The track was not difficult to set up either. Just use the instruction manual and the picture on the box as a guide.

Once you have everything set up, you will notice that everything is "loose". If your child has a temper like mine, this will result in a destruction of the meticulous set up that worked on for dozens of minutes. For this reason, once everything was set up, I used a hot glue gun to hold it down. It worked very, very well.
